At Basset Cravings and Doodle Desires (BCDD), we offer two types of purchase packages for our Basset Hounds and Basset Doodles: the AKC Limited Rights Package and the AKC Full Rights Package. Each package is designed to cater to the varying needs of our customers, from those looking for a loving family companion to those interested in breeding and showing their dogs.
AKC Limited Rights Package
Our AKC Limited Rights Package is perfect for individuals or families seeking a wonderful pet without the intention of breeding. With this package:

Your dog is AKC registered, but cannot produce AKC-registerable litters.

You can participate in many AKC-sanctioned events such as obedience, agility, rally, and other companion sports.

Your dog is a recognized member of its breed, but cannot compete in AKC conformation shows (which evaluate a dog’s adherence to breed standards).
This option is ideal for those who simply want a healthy, happy companion without the responsibilities of breeding or showing.
AKC Full Rights Package
The AKC Full Rights Package is for those interested in potentially breeding their dog and participating in all AKC events, including conformation shows. With this package:

Your dog is fully AKC registered with the ability to produce AKC-registerable litters if bred with another AKC-registered dog.

You have full access to enter your dog in all AKC events, including shows that judge the breed standards for Basset Hounds or Basset Doodles.
This package is typically recommended for breeders or those looking to preserve and promote the quality of the breed through showing and breeding.
Option to Upgrade to Full Breeding Rights
We understand that circumstances may change, and you may decide to pursue breeding after initially selecting the Limited Rights Package. At BCDD, we offer the flexibility to purchase additional breeding rights after you’ve brought your puppy home.
If you start with the AKC Limited Rights Package, you have the option to upgrade to full breeding rights by purchasing them at a later time. Upon doing so:

Your dog's AKC registration will be updated from Limited to Full Registration.

You will receive the Breeder’s permission to breed your dog, ensuring it is done responsibly and ethically in line with AKC standards.

This grants you the ability to produce AKC-registerable litters from your dog, enabling you to responsibly contribute to the breed’s lineage.
This option allows flexibility for those who may wish to start as pet owners but later decide to explore breeding.
